| University of Iowa Dance Marathon!
University of Iowa Dance Marathon is one of the largest student run philanthropic organization in the nation. Since its inception in 1994, University of Iowa Dance Marathon has raised over $7.5 million to support kids with cancer and their families. This incredible event, now in its sixteenth year, raises money and awareness for University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in association with Children's Miracle Network. Although Dance Marathon initiatives occur year-round, the students’ efforts culminate at the BIG Event, February 5 & 6, 2010 with the actual 24-hour dance marathon. At the BIG Event, over 1,300 UI students stay on their feet for 24 hours to represent a small portion of the sacrifice and struggle of kids with cancer. Many Dance Marathon families, current and former patients, also attend Dance Marathon’s BIG Event. The experience with Dance Marathon families has encouraged UI students to raise remarkable amounts of money. With your help, we hope to continue this wonderful tradition of college students making a difference!
