| Why Become a participant? Deciding to be a dancer in IU Dance Marathon is one of the most selfless, honorable decisions you will make at Indiana University. The 36 hours you spend dancing will humble you and give you the opportunity to see the incredible difference you have made in many children’s lives. You will laugh, cry, and most importantly you will reflect on how fortunate you are to have the chance to stand up for these kids. Dancers are what make IUDM possible. Without enthusiastic, passionate dancers this event would not succeed. Please consider registering for the 2008 IU Dance Marathon to experience a life-changing weekend that you will be able to look back on with incredible pride. It would be an honor for IUDM to welcome you into our family! To learn more about getting involved click on one of the following links: Dancer, Miracle Maker, or Dancer Group Representative (DGR). When you are ready to register please click on the "register" link a the top of the page.

Twenty-year-old Stacie Thornburgh of Indianapolis writes: My nickname is “Riley Rerun” because I have been in and out of Riley Hospital all my life. When I was born, there were medical problems with my heart, lungs and brain. I have cardiomyopathy. Riley Hospital’s doctors and nurses have saved my life — many times.
I’ve had a lot of surgeries. I spent so much time at Riley Hospital as a baby, that I thought it was my home. That’s just how Riley Hospital is. When you’re there for treatment, they make you feel like it’s home. These days, I have a defibrillator implanted in my chest. If my heart stops, the defibrillator shocks and starts it again. I even run a support group online for kids with defibrillators.
All the Riley Hospital doctors and nurses and the Child Life Department helped me get well, but what also helps me is knowing Indiana University students care enough to raise money for sick and injured kids. Thank you IU Dance Marathoners! Thank you for helping Riley Hospital give me – and thousands of other kids – life!
